littleSunday - Wait for Tomorrow
Addictive Records
by Melissa Girimonte
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again – the hardest working indie band in Southern Ontario is, without a doubt, littleSunday. And the fruit of this hard work, and dedication to their continuous pursuit of perfection is their new disc, Wait for Tomorrow. They’ve managed to recapture the soul of straight ahead rock music that’s been missing for about a decade, injecting new life to a sound that’s been nearly forgotten since the influx of pop punk and emo dominating the musical landscape in recent years.
From beginning to end, this is a solid album, complete with hits (“Wait for Tomorrow”, “In The End”), anthems (“Cross The Line”, “Superstar”, “It’s My Life”) and a great ballad (“Over My Head”), giving male and female rock fans something fresh to rock out to.
On a more personal note, this is an album that took me back to my teen years – I literally felt younger just listening to it. “In The End” reminded me of cruising around with my best friend in her boat of a car when she first got her license. It’s the type of song we would have cranked to the max on the car’s cassette deck and sang along to as we headed to the mall, in between chatting about which guys the song reminded us of. “Over My Head” took me back to the days of high school dances, praying on the sidelines in the school gym that my favourite crush would walk over and ask me to dance.
You get to a point when you think you’ll never recapture that feeling again. Wait for Tomorrow is just the ticket to a trip down Nostalgia Street.
This is album is just the start of what I predict to be a long and successful musical career for littleSunday, and it’s a must have for all rock fans in the truest sense of the meaning. Skip Bon Jovi’s latest this holiday season, and proceed directly to Wait for Tomorrow. It’ll be sure to satisfy all of the rock n rollers on your shopping list! And be sure to pick up a copy for yourself while you’re at it.
