Film Festival Makes Debut at Rogers MusicStore Canadian Music Week 2008by Melissa Girimonte

The newest component of CMW will be “Music for the Screen”, four films in four days at The Royal Theatre on College Street, programmed by Jeremy Platt of Spectacle Entertainment Group. This marriage of music and film will be celebrated with screenings of these unique and intriguing selections, with Q&A sessions to follow. Get there early to attend the receptions before each film, and meet some of the directors, producers and musicians involved in these stellar films.

Beginning Wednesday evening, these films include: Great World of Sound, about a record industry talent scouting scheme; The Golem, a 1920’s German silent horror film that has been restored with a new musical score consisting of electric and acoustic guitars; Songs from the Soul, the second film in the “Living the Blues” documentary series; and D Tour: A Tenacious Documentary, a behind the scenes look at Tenacious D, which will include a Q&A with Kyle Gass.
